How Many Flowers Are in American Mahjong?
American mahjong commonly uses eight flower tiles. Although the artwork may show seasons, plants, numbers, or other designs, the eight active flowers are generally interchangeable whenever the current card calls for flowers. Decorative differences do not create separate flower identities in standard American play.
