When Two Players Call the Same Discard
Two players may call the same discard at nearly the same time. American mahjong resolves the conflict by the type of call and, when calls are otherwise equal, by the table's governing priority rule. A call for a valid mahjong takes priority over a call for an ordinary exposure.
Pause before anyone moves the tile
When voices overlap, leave the discard where it is. Identify each caller and what the tile would complete. Moving the tile prematurely can make the sequence harder to reconstruct and may cause players to expose groups that never legally entered play.
First determine whether either call is for mahjong. Verify the winning hand before dismissing the other call. If neither call wins, apply the recognized turn-order priority used by your rules.
