What to Check Before You Buy
Match Your Game
Start with the version of mahjong your group plays. Compare the listing’s tile inventory with your group’s requirements; a similar-looking set may include different tiles.
Read the Faces and Measure the Tiles
Look closely at the symbols, numbers, and contrast. Check height, width, and thickness against your racks and carrying case. Larger faces can help readability but also take more room.
Check What Comes With the Tiles
A tile collection may arrive on its own or with racks and a case. Read the contents list before comparing bundles, and check how replacement tiles can be obtained if you lose one.
Common Questions
Are tiles and complete sets the same thing?
Not always. A tiles listing may omit racks, pushers, or storage. Use the contents list to decide whether you need tiles alone or a complete game set.
Will any tiles fit my racks?
Fit depends on the tile and rack dimensions. Measure both, including the depth of the rack’s tile channel, before ordering.
