What to Check Before You Buy
Start With the Contents List
Choose a set for the game your group plays, then check the exact tile inventory. Photos can show optional accessories, so rely on the written list of included pieces.
Compare the Whole Bundle
Check the number of racks, whether pushers are included, and whether dice or a rules card come with the set. A card may need to be bought separately or replaced for a new playing year.
Think About Carrying and Storage
For a set that travels, consider packed weight, case handles, and space for accessories. For home use, measure your storage shelf and table before choosing a larger case or oversized tiles.
Common Questions
Does every mahjong set include a rules card?
No. Check each bundle’s contents and the card’s year and publisher when one is included.
What should I check before buying a gift set?
Ask which version of mahjong the recipient plays and whether they already own racks, a mat, or a current card. That helps avoid buying an incompatible or incomplete bundle.
